I sit back in my garden and listen to a gentle sound,
A symphony of nature – beautiful and profound.
The humble, heavy, buzz of bees – all focused on one mission,
To save our struggling ecosystems with military precision.
“I am tired,” said the bee. “There are no flowers to be found,
I can no longer use my wings – I’ll rest here upon the ground.”
“Look, Mum!” cried the boy, “this bee is lying still!
Can we help it fly again? If we don’t then who will?”
His mother smiled at her son with pride and sheer delight,
“Of course,” she said, “we’ll help it – you are absolutely right.”
“I know a special kind of syrup to give that bee a perk,
Come, I’ll show you how to make it – and she’ll soon be back to work.”
“Mix two-parts sugar to one-part water, then serve it on a spoon,
Now watch her drink – and then you’ll see her flying very soon.”
Sure enough, with a tiny slurp, that bee was on her way,
Each one of them a tiny hero – but with a crucial role to play.
You too can help each bee and, in turn, each busy hive,
Yes … it’s ‘easy as can be’ to help these pretty insects thrive…
Just plant bee-friendly flowers and help them germinate,
Let’s save our furry pollinators … before it gets too late.
